First in answer to your question both 3 and 4 chains work depending on the person wearing it. The addition of hidden clasps to allow the wearer to chose the number of chains might be something to consider. I'd also make the image itself a little larger. You do really good wirework, and an image this small really doesn't show it off the way it should be. The use of color is great and the overall structure is such that it tends to draw the eye, something a well executed piece of jewelry should do. I really like the way you've put together the pendant as well. The mirroring of the curving ornamentation around the stone lends it an overall magical feel, like something you'd see on the neck of an Elvin queen. It also has a bit of mystery to it, something that keeps people coming back for another look over and over without becoming tiring due to familiarity, a very neat trick for any artist to pull off. You’ve also built enough flexibility into the design that this piece can be worn with a number of things, a feature that will undoubtedly get your work noticed even more in the future. Great design and you have the talent to execute in a way that does that design justice. This is something that would go well with a matching bracelet. Overall this was very nicely done. Someone will be very lucky to have a piece such as this to wear and/or add to their collection.
